Scene Change Detection Troubleshooting

Scene Change Detection Troubleshooting

What to do when your scene change detection has failed but the camera has not changed it's field of view.

If your scene detection has changed, you may need to reconfigure the scene change for the following reasons:

  1. staple objects of the initial view are no longer present or more have been added
  2. the current thumbnail has drastically changed from the baseline thumbnail

Let's tackle the first possible issue:

1. You can start by clicking on "Scene Change Detection" under the baseline thumbnail to see what stats are failing the test:

Inside you will be able to see the results of the last health check.

If the last value is lower than the minimum confidence, you have the ability to to reconfigure the scene change detection with the reconfigure button to the right of your bar:

Let's use the below configuration as an example:

This camera is set up properly but it has been failing the Scene Change Detection.

The Last Value is just outside of your Minimum Confidence. If you compare the baseline with the current thumbnail that makes sense because there are more cars directly in front of the camera.

We suggest doing a re-configure and making the minimum confidence something around 80% then you will be covered in a situation like the current one and once it starts snowing and some of the tarmac gets covered it won't cause an error.

2. Now let's take a look at how to tackle if your current thumbnail and baseline are drastically different.

Let's start first by checking if your Current Thumbnail looks different from your Baseline Thumbnail:

In the above instance, because the Baseline thumbnail is what we are configuring the scene change stats on but the current thumbnail of your camera has a slightly different field of view and more obstructions, you will want to update your baseline thumbnail so it is going off of your current camera view.

You can do this by clicking Make Current Thumbnail the Baseline on your current camera thumbnail:

(If you are asked to first disable Scene Change Detection to allow this, you can do so by clicking on Scene Change Detection then Disable Scene Change Detection. Then proceed to make your current thumbnail the baseline)

You can now move forward in reconfiguring your Scene Change Detection so that the objects and environment our AI is looking for is using up-to-date thumbnails!
