Customer Roles - Changing or Deleting a Role

 

This page is for information on inside an individual Role

You can 

  • Change Specifics of a Role, including camera access and role information
  • Delete the Role
  • Change the Users who are assigned this role

Change or Delete a Role

  1. Navigate to the Roles Interface (search Finding the Role Interface for more details)
  2. Click on the Role Name
  3. Notes of interest
    • Users can have multiple Roles
    • Users can only have Guard Roles OR Admin roles.  They cannot have a mixture of both
    • If you change anything, you must use the Save or Cancel buttons on the bottom to confirm your choices
    • Update & Delete gives access to very specific Camera Settings. If these are edited improperly the camera will not work
    • Deleting a Role is permanent, you will have to recreate all Role settings if it is deleted

 

CAMERAS TAB

  1. Exclude Cameras -> Choose Specific Roles which already have cameras assigned to NOT add to this Role
  2. Include Cameras -> Choose Specific Roles which already have cameras assigned TO add to this role
  3. Reset Filters -> you can search Columns by (ID, Camera name, specific permissions). Reset the Filters to default
  4. Columns ->
    • Selected -> See Below
    • ID -> Unique Identifiers for each Camera
    • Camera Name -> See Below
    • Permissions -> See Below
  5. Reset Settings -> Reset Columns to default
  6. Selected Cameras -> Select or Unselect individual camera for this role
  7. Camera Name -> The descriptive name assigned to this camera
  8. Global Permissions ->Modify permissions for individual cameras
    • View -> Allows this Role to view the cameras on the VMA Customer Software (all Roles can view)
    • Share -> Allows this Role to send a shareable link
    • PTZ -> Allows this Role to access PTZ camera controls
    • Update and Delete -> Can modify Camera settings in the Camera Interface
    • Save Clip -> Can Create and Save a Video Clip on the VMA Customer Software
  9. Save -> Save your Changes
  10. Cancel -> Cancel your Changes

SETTINGS TAB

  1. Name -> Modify the Name of this specific Role
  2. Description -> Modify the Description of this specific Role
  3. Save -> Save your Changes
  4. Cancel -> Cancel your Changes

 

USERS TAB

  1. Available users -> Users who have no role, or have other equal Roles ( Admin or Guard). Click User Name to Add Users to this Role
  2. Selected Users -> Users who have already been selected for this Role. Click User Name to Delete Users from this Role
  3. Save -> Save your Changes
  4. Cancel -> Cancel your Changes

 

DELETE TAB

  1. Delete -> Delete this Role permanently
  2. Cancel -> Cancel your Changes
