Creating Sensor Alerts

Creating Sensor Alerts

You can create alert rules based on any ONVIF compliant events from the camera or on server-side analytics recognition. Any number of cameras can be included in a single alert and any number of users can be receiving notifications simultaneously.

To create a new alert open the Alerts table from the Customer level menus and click on the Create Sensor Event button:

General alert settings.

On the first tab of the window that will appear add a name for this alert, this will be included in the title of the notification email or push notification that will be delivered. Next, choose Alert type from the dropdown menu list, all ONVIF events which camera can detect can be used as an Alert trigger though make sure that the detector is configured on the camera properly, and if Object Detection or Face Recognition is used make sure that the appropriate rules are configured for the selected camera/cameras under the Analytics tab.
For the Object detection option, you will need to select which objects will trigger the Alarm. For example, the camera can be configured to detect cars and people but the Alarm can be configured to be sent out only when a person is detected.

Alerts can be sent out either 24x7 or on a schedule. Choose the Custom Schedule option, next select time intervals when the alert will be active. Orange squares indicate the time when the alert will be active, white when - disabled.

Notification filtering allows you to combine multiple alerts into a single email. When Notification filtering is enabled the alerts will be accumulating for the selected period and then one email containing information about all events that have happened during this period will be sent.

Note: If Custom Schedule is enabled and the maximum aggregation period will be limited by the shortest active period on the selected schedule.

Alerts can be delivered through email or directly to your phone using push notifications. To receive Mobile Push notifications your phone has to have an active session of the Local Security app and you need to be logged in with the user credentials for which the alert is configured. You can choose any of the two options or both at the same time though push notifications can be used only with Object detection or face recognition alerts.

IMPORTANT: Do not create a rule to put the Local Security app to sleep based on inactivity, this will stop push notifications.

Add cameras to the Alert

Click the Next button to select cameras that will be included in the alert. You can add any number of cameras to the alert. Use the All Cameras button to add all cameras simultaneously or click on the camera name from the left table to include it in the alert. To remove the camera from the alert click on the camera name from the right column or use the All Cameras to remove all cameras at once.

o further limit the number of false alerts you can use Dual Technology. When this option is enabled the alert will be sent out only when the event is triggered on all cameras from the list simultaneously. For example when two or more cameras are overlooking the same area but from different angles activating Dual Technology will mean that only when an event was detected by all cameras an alert will be sent and if just one camera was triggered no alert will be triggered.

Note: If Object Detection or Face Recognition is selected as Alert type the list of cameras will automatically be shortened to just those cameras that have Object detection enabled but you are still responsible to make sure that appropriate detection rules are configured under the Analytics tab.

Configure recipients of the Alert

You can choose any number of users who will be notified using the selected delivery method. Use the Select All button to add all users at once, or the Deselect all button to remove all users from the list. To add a single user simply click on the user name from the left column, and to remove the user - click on the user name from the right column.

Note: only users who belong to the same customer as the cameras can be notified.
