Connecting Your Camera to the Cloud through Port Forwarding/ONVIF option

Connecting Your Camera to the Cloud through Port Forwarding/ONVIF option

Make sure that the camera has the latest firmware updates installed.

You will want to configure the Network settings of the camera, make sure to use appropriate Gateway and DNS settings for your local network, check HTTP and RTSP port settings.
We recommend configuring the camera to Static IP address otherwise the Port forwarding rule will be invalid if the camera will be reassigned to a new local IP address by DHCP service.

After you have configured your camera and your router for the proper port forwarding rules, you can now add your camera directly in our Admin portal!

If you are unsure how to set up port forwarding, follow this link before moving on:

How to Set Up Port Forwarding Rules

Navigate to vmsadmin.localsecurity.org and login with your previously created credentials. Navigate into your customer and click ADD CAMERA then choose the ONVIF option.

Begin filling out the fields based off of your previously set up port forwarding rules:

We recommend using a DNS service to map the path to the camera but if you do not have DNS service configured you can use the direct IP address of the LOCATION where the camera is installed.

To find the IP address of the location, connect a computer to the router through which the camera is connected to the internet and do a Google search for: “What is my IP”.
The first link in the results list will show the IP address of the location copy IPv4 address.

Use this in the HTTP access URL line.

**If you use the direct IP address be aware that when your internet service provider changes the IP address for your modem all cameras at this location that use a direct IP address to stream will lose connection to our servers and you will need to provide a new

direct IP address for each camera in our system to resume services**

1. Enter in the ports you just configured under the HTTP ACCESS URL PORT and RTSP PORT
Enter in the port number you opened for HTTP (LAN connection 80) and enter in the port number you opened for RTSP (LAN connection 554)

2.  Enter in the camera's USERNAME and PASSWORD already configured to the camera

3. Give the camera a NAME that will be displayed on your VMS Platform

4. Enter in a DESCRIPTION of the camera

5. Hit CREATE!
